I'm not sure why you'd need to replace the bridge plate. You can't know much about the sound, but if you like the feel of the neck, I don't think it would be big gamble at $3,500-4,000.

I agree that this is restorable I would look at the work involved Top cracks reset and agree the $3500 to $4000 is about all I would put out on this one/

WOW! That's a dream deal on a great players guitar, a profitable investment too...congrats! That case is worth a lot too...I would say you got a Brazilian martin for about $2500.

Good deal - you should come out fine in terms of $$, and even better in terms of sound. I wouldn't be in too much of a rush to replace the bridgeplate, either.

The plan now is to save both the bridge plate and the bridge. Andy Todd has it, and he's going to patch the plate, and glue up the bridge and fill the holes in it. If it goes back together as we hope,...

It'll be interesting to see if the glued bridge holds under long term stress. Whenever I've had a cracked bridge, its always been matched identically, wood and shape, and replaced. I would hate to see...
